Court News

LISBON — Edward Orianwo, a Pennsylvania man convicted of attempted possession of cocaine on May 5, filed an appeal to challenge his conviction.

Chris Amato, an attorney for Orianwo, filed the paperwork with the Seventh District Court of Appeals on behalf of Orianwo, 27, Midland.

Orianwo pleaded no contest to a lesser-included offense of attempted possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, and was found guilty by the court. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail and given credit for 10 days already served. He was also told he would be prohibited from possessing firearms. The offense dated back to Jan. 7, 2015 involving an attempt to possess cocaine.

Municipal

LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a case against Christopher West, 29, Vine Street, Salem, was bound over to the county grand jury for a fourth-degree felony domestic violence charge for allegedly punching a woman in the face, choking her and dragging her down the stairs at a Salem residence on May 13.

A case against Anthony Baker Sr., 37, Sophia Street, East Liverpool, was bound over to the county grand jury for failure to verify change of address, a fourth-degree felony, for not providing his change of address to the sheriff's office on May 25 as required of a registered sex offender.

A case against Tim Rinestine, 52, Overlook Drive, Salem, was bound over to the county grand jury for charges of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, for allegedly tossing a glass pipe off of the back deck of his residence when police responded for a female with a warrant on April 29 in Perry Township.

A preliminary/pretrial hearing was set July 27 for Rodger Davis, 54, Warren, charged with a fourth-degree felony improper handling firearms in a motor vehicle and misdemeanors of engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools. Davis allegedly answered an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranged for sexual activity with a female in exchange for $100, traveling to East Palestine on June 5 for the meeting. Upon his arrival, a loaded firearm was discovered in the center console of his vehicle.

A preliminary hearing was set July 20 for Sara Noling, 36, East Taggart Street, East Palestine, charged with a fifth-degree felony possession of drugs charge for allegedly possessing methamphetamine on Jan. 14 in East Palestine.

A pretrial was set Aug. 28 for Bryan Dickinson, 49, New Castle, Pa., charged with possessing criminal tools and engaging in prostitution for allegedly arranging to have sexual activity in exchange for $300 with an undercover agent posing as two adult females and arriving in East Palestine for the meeting on May 31.

A pretrial was set Aug. 29 for John Dunn, 61, Youngstown, charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly answering an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranging for sexual conduct with a female in exchange for $100, then traveling to East Palestine on May 30 for the meeting.

Seth Ensign, 23, Austintown, was fined $750 and given a suspended 90-day jail term for engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools. He was ordered to complete 20 hours community service and a 12-hour education course. Ensign arranged to have sexual activity in exchange for $200 with an undercover agent posing as two adult females and arrived Jan. 8 in East Palestine for the meeting.

Matthew Cessna, 44, Youngstown, was fined $750 and given a suspended 90-day jail term for engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools. He was ordered to forfeit $160 to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force, permitted to buy out 20 hours community service and ordered to complete a 12-hour online prostitution prevention course. Cessna was accused of requesting sexual acts from an undercover agent in exchange for $160 and traveling to Salem on Jan. 4 for the meeting.

A pretrial was set June 15 for Eugene Williams, 82, state Route 45, Lisbon, charged with aggravated menacing for allegedly making threats at Chase Bank in St. Clair Township on June 5.

A case against Dustin Andrews, 25, state Route 170, East Palestine, was bound over to the county grand jury for a fifth-degree felony charge of possession of drugs. Andrews allegedly possessed cocaine in his pants pocket when taken into custody on March 7 in East Palestine for an outstanding warrant.

A case against Kira Price, 34, Bloomfield Road, East Liverpool, was bound over to the county grand jury for charges of third-degree felony failure to comply (fleeing and eluding), and misdemeanors of driving under suspension, speeding, left of center, traffic control devices and marked lanes. Price allegedly fled from police attempting a traffic stop on May 13 in St. Clair Township, accelerating to speeds between 100 and 120 mph and striking a tractor trailer in a construction zone, disabling her vehicle.

A pretrial was set Aug. 24 for Alex Conkle, 29, North Pleasant Drive, East Palestine, charged with criminal trespass for allegedly trespassing on a Metz Road, New Waterford property on Aug. 21, 2022.

D’Ante Merritt, 22, Warren, was fined $340 and sentenced to seven days in jail, with credit for one day served, for carrying concealed weapons, possessing marijuana and tinted glass related to having a loaded gun under the seat during a traffic stop on Feb. 16 in Columbiana.

Joshua Swayngim, 39, Chester, W.Va., was fined $150 and given a suspended 30-day jail term for drug paraphernalia. A second charge of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. Swayngim was ordered to complete 40 hours community service. He possessed a burnt pipe during a traffic stop in St. Clair Township on Feb. 15.

Bryce Cooper, 25, West Middetown Road, Salem, was fined $100 for disorderly conduct for urinating in a public parking lot in Salem on March 18, admitting to having several alcoholic beverages.

Morgan Birbeck, 42, Avondale Street, East Liverpool, was fined $1,000 for two counts failure to file city income tax return, with all but $50 of the fine suspended, for failing to file East Liverpool income tax returns for tax years 2018 and 2019.

A housing code violation was dismissed against Natalie Coles, 42, last known address West Sixth Street, East Liverpool, with a notation that she no longer owned the East Liverpool property in question.

Douglas Megill, 54, State Line Road, Negley, was fined $300 for reckless operation, amended from operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and failure to control.

Shelby Jewell, 29, Plymouth Place, Salem, was fined $915 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 87 days suspended and credit for three days served in a driver intervention program, for OVI first offense and a plate light violation. Jewell's driver's license was suspended for one year, with driving privileges granted, and she was ordered to complete 40 hours community service.

Jason Martini, 44, Cedar Ridge Drive, Salem, was fined $1,075 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 87 days suspended and credit for three days served in a driver intervention program, for OVI first offense and obstructing official business. Another charge of obstructing official business was dismissed. His driver's license was suspended for one year, with driving privileges granted. He was also ordered to complete 20 hours community service. Martini told officers he wasn't driving his vehicle and that it was stolen when they responded July 31 in Salem to a traffic crash with him driving.

A pretrial was set Aug. 22 for Nicole Carr, 35, Ambrose Avenue, East Liverpool, charged with driving under suspension and illegal operation of a dealer's motor vehicle.

A pretrial was set Aug. 29 for Danny Brandle, 30, Riverview Street, East Liverpool, charged with failure to control.

Jack Skidmore, 54, Minerva, was fined $150 for an equipment violation, amended from improper passing.

Heather Marshall, 36, state Route 39, Wellsville, was fined $250 for use of unauthorized plate.

David Ernst, 18, Alliance, was fined $150 for speeding.

Robert Jones, 26, Echo Dell Road, East Liverpool, was fined $150 for speeding.

Tyler Green, 39, state Route 45, Wellsville, was fined $25 for a charge of parental responsibility for a May 18 violation in East Liverpool.
